Bouzoukis in Winter
Clouds unloaded
their wet white luggage
covering cars
blocking in doors.
Black rum, Pepsi and Newfoundland lime.
We wore black pyjamas that winter
we tuned our Bouzoukis
- stretched strings
their sound
a shimmer
through the snow cave.
We drank and tuned until the snow
began to disappear
black spots (asphalt)
rising up through the snow.
